The street gutters and storm water drains are linked to the condition of our verges and the cleanliness of our gutters. Overgrown verges, untidy and messy gutters lead to blocked storm water drains. Which leads to additional labour required to unblock them, it is a vicious circle and a blame game.
Although the City Council tries to keep a hand on cleaning our gutters, many roads are not cleaned on a regular basis. It is up to individual home owners to keep their section of gutter swept and cleared of leaves and objects that can fall into drains. By investing a small amount of time regularly, it will benefit Pinelands in the long-run.
Call the City Council Water Department if you notice a blocked storm water drain.
